  Ancient Crater where you can smell sulfurous fume and see clouds of steam rise from crevasses. It is a popular tourist site for its scenic views, volcanic activity, and especially, “Kuro- tamago” - a local specialty of eggs boiled in the hot springs. The eggshell turns black and smells slightly sulphuric. The egg is said to increase longevity when eaten. Eating one is said to add seven years to your life.
